PRESENTS: “Dawn of Ancient Melodies”
Cornell residents will be taken to Liberty High school for the Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra’s first performance of it’s 2010 season.

Under the direction of HSO Conductor Sharon Northe including a Symphony showcase featuring Don Gottschalk, principal Trumpet. The orchestra will perform Respighi’s “Ancient Airs and Dances”; “Sprach Zarathustra!”, by Richard Strauss”; “On the Steppes of Central Asia” by A. Borodin; Elliot Del Borgo’s “Adoriginal Rituals”; “Selection from Orff’s, “Carmina Burana;” by Carl Orff; and “Trombone Concertino” by F. David featuring Louie Olenick.

In a helpful interactive information session, Mr. Majowicz will answer your questions about Medicare coverage, how it works, what it covers, and its pitfalls. He will also describe how to contact SHIBA’s one-on-one free counseling to discuss your individualized Medicare questions. Join us in the Party Room at 10:00 a.m.

After stopping for lunch at “Panda Express” in Oregon City, residents will continue to the “End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center” for an informative and interesting venture into the history of the Oregon Trail.

Featuring Area Artist James F. Smith – at 1:30 p.m. in the Party Room.

As part of the Hillsboro Community Arts’ “Art Around Town” program, the audience will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion regarding his art medium as well as view several of his paintings.

The Beaverton Miniature Club will be at Cornell Estates to share their creative room boxes for our dispay case. The theme is “Spring Miniatures”. The members cleverly use items we dicard every day such as creamers, plastic tops, stir sticks and more. Come by and take a look. Each time you do you will discover something new.

“Come Fly” with Philip Clayton-Thompson, singing SINATRA. Join us in the Party Room on March 17th at 2 p.m. Wear green and your dancing shoes for this MUST-SEE show of songs and tales from the 50s.

“Environmental Threats to Healthy Aging”
Emerging evidence suggest that toxic environmental exposures, in combination with lifestyle choices, are significant contributing factors in many of the chronic degenerative diseases of aging, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cardiovascular disease and diabetes Maye Thompson, RN,PhD, Environmental health Program Director, Oregon PSR will be on hand to summarize the evidence uncovered so far and give suggestions for reducing your exposure and building resilience against environmental threats. The OASIS presentation will be in the Party Room at 1:30, please join us.

“New Zeland”

Hillsboro residents, Brian Haynie and Denise Ross-Haynie, will conduct their power point slide show on Friday March 26th at 1:30 p.m. in the Party Room. Their trip will highlight New Zeland, known as the Land of the Long White Cloud.

The travelogue is a monthly series and open to the public.

Dear Cornell,

When I joined the choir, I had not realized I became a part of a huge, “Generations In Song” at Liberty High School (singing with choir members from 8 to 80+ years). My heart was filled with joy and gratitude for having the opporutnity. It’s clearly evident to see the beautiful spirit the staff sees in all of us here at Cornell. I want to say thank you for the opportunity to be in everlasting joy.
